CANFIELD-Thomas C. OBrien, 81, passed away Thursday afternoon at the Cleveland Clinic. Thomas was born April 25, 1937 in Youngstown, a son of Cornelous and Dorothy C. Smallwood OBrien. Thomas was a Carpenter with R.M. Construction for 25 years and was then self-employed. He attended Austintown Fitch High School and was in the U.S. Army Reserves. Thomas was a member of St. Michael Church in Canfield. He was also a member of Carpenters Local No. 171. He liked to water ski, loved to work and enjoyed traveling with his wife, Patricia, especially to Florida and Las Vegas. Thomas is survived by his wife of 61 years, the former Patricia A. Franken, whom he married Oct. 19, 1957; his sons, Michael T. (Sheryl) OBrien of Canfield and John P. OBrien of Youngstown; his brother, Patrick (Rose) OBrien of Greenford; his grandchildren, Brady and Gavin OBrien, Travis Young, Taylor and Sarah Clawson and many nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Thomas was preceded in death by his brothers, Alfred and Joseph OBrien. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. Michael Church in Canfield on Thursday at 11 a.m., with prayers said at the funeral home at 10:30 a.m. Friends will be received at the Lane Family Funeral Homes-Canfield Chapel on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. and Thursday from 10-10:30 a.m. Memorial contributions in Thomas's name may be given to Alzheimers Assoc., 3711 Starr Center Dr. Suite 4, Canfield, OH 44406; St. Michael Church, 281 Glenview Dr. Canfield, OH 44406 or to the Boys and Girls Club of America, 1275 Peachtree St. N.E.
