Thomas J. Kuty

Mr. Thomas J. Kuty, 65, of Austintown, died Monday afternoon, September 23rd at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Boardman. 

He was born June 12, 1959 in Youngstown, a son of Gabor L. and Margaret A. (Gregosits) Kuty.

Tom attended the Leonard Kirtz School and worked in their workshops for 35 years, retiring to the Center at Javit Court in 2014.

He was a member of the former St. Stephen of Hungary Roman Catholic Church in Youngstown. He was active with Active Day adult daycare, he competed in the Special Olympics in the 60's and 70's in the softball throw and 50 yard dash, and he participated in various activities with Activities R Us, including bowling, dancing and country music. Tom was also an avid fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes and Dallas Cowboys.

He is survived by his siblings; Mary "Pat" Gibbons, of Mineral Ridge, Robert "Bob" (Connie) Kuty, of Mantua, and Loretta "Lori" (Dennis) Kalitich, of Austintown, with whom he made his home. He also leaves behind two nephews; John (Debbie) Gibbons, and Michael Gibbons; and a niece, Christine (Bob Jordan) Gibbons.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, a brother-in-law, John "Jack" Gibbons, and a sister-in-law, Jeannie Kuty.

Tom's family would like to extend heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff at Mercy Health in Boardman, his friends Dave and Nina Kalitich, who were his "second family", and his very special friend, Lacey Maass, for all of the kindness and compassion shown to him over the years.

Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM Friday, September 27th at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel, 5797 Mahoning Ave., Austintown. 

Friends may call one hour prior to services from 1 - 2 PM Friday at the funeral home. 

Tom will be laid to rest next to his beloved parents in the Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown.
