Thomas M. Haefke

Funeral services will be held 11 AM Wednesday at Redeemer Lutheran Church for Thomas M. Haefke, 69, of Canfield, who passed away Friday May 26, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Health Care Center in Youngstown. Tom was born November 3, 1947 in Youngstown the son of Calvin Frederick and Dorothy Ann (Nierlich) Haefke. He was a graduate of Austintown Fitch High School class of 1966 and attended Youngstown State University . Tom served as a reservist in the United States Army with the 348th Engineering Company. He retired on December 31, 2007 from the Canfield Township Road Department as an Assistant Road Supervisor after 30 years of service. Tom was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church for 50 years and served as a Trustee within the church. He was also very active with Canfield Baseball where he had been a coach, a trustee, and a grounds attendant for 20 years making sure everything was ready for the games. Tom also served as the Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach for the Canfield High School Cardinals and was a coach for Class B Baseball for a number of years. Tom and his wife Jackie were avid Ohio State Football Fans and were proud season ticket holders for 40 years, as well as a member of the Buckeye Club for 25 years. He was a former member of the Saxon Club. Tom leaves his wife, the former Jacquelyn Ritchey, whom he married June 29, 1968, one son, Scott (Tracy) Haefke of Dublin, OH. , two grandchildren Cal and Carmen, his mother, Dorothy of Canfield, and a sister, Carol Tsvetkoff of Canfield. Tom was preceded in death by his father Calvin, and a brother-in-law Thomas Tsvetkoff. Friends may call from 5 to 8 PM Tuesday at the Lane Funeral Home, Canfield Chapel.
