Cortland – Timothy J. Thornton, 61, passed away Thursday afternoon, October 10, 1963 at his residence surrounded by his family.
Tim was born on June 3, 1963 in Warren, OH, a son of the late Duane and Gladys Thornton.
He was a graduate of Maplewood High School. After high school, he joined the United States Marines and proudly served his country until his honorable discharge. He worked as a boxer at Lincoln Electric in Cleveland for 25 years.
He was a life member of VFW West Farmington, Penn-Ohio Model A Club, Penn-Ohio Antique Truck Club of America in Trumbull County, Antique Tractor Club, Moose Lodge #1012, and American Legion. He also enjoyed going to auctions and traveling.
Tim will be deeply missed by his fiancé Coleen West; stepchildren, Abigail West and Samuel West, niece, Cheyenne (Tom Weeks) Thornton; great-niece Addison Weeks; Nephew, Scott Thornton; and numerous extended family.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Gregory Thornton; and sister Diane Thornton.
Family and friends may visit from 4-7:00PM on Tuesday October 15, 2024 at Lane Family Funeral Homes Shafer-Winans Chapel located at 164 N. High St in Cortland. Funeral services will be held at 10:00AM on Wednesday October 16, 2024 at the funeral home.
Burial will take place at West Mecca Cemetery.
