A memorial service celebrating the life of Vergil Joyce Camp, 88, of Austintown, will be held Saturday, November 17, 2018 at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel. Mrs. Camp passed away Friday, November 9, 2018 at Assumption Village. She was born August 28, 1930 in Norwalk, Ohio the daughter of Kenneth and Beatrice (Glider) Hurst. She attended secretarial school at Oberlin School of Commerce and worked for Good Samaritan Hospitals School of Nursing as a secretary and the Elyria Library. Vergil lived most of her life in Ashland, Ohio. She was a member of Canfield United Methodist Church. Her husband, John Edwin Camp, whom she married December 26, 1953, passed away July 31, 2011. Vergil leaves her four children, Laura (Paul) Sullivan of Austintown, Cheri Camp of Satellite Beach, FL, Steve (Virginia) Camp of Mission Viejo, CA, and Jason (Erica) Camp of Indian Hill, Ohio as well as nine grandchildren, Molly, Shane, Andrew, Tyler, Josh, Alexis, Ethan, Eli, and Evan along with three great-grandsons, Joseph, Cormac, and Emerson. Besides her parents and husband, Vergil was preceded in death by a sister Doris Rollins, and a brother, Lloyd Hurst. Friends may call from 2 to 3 PM at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel where service will begin at 3 PM. The family would like to extend the sincere gratitude to Brookdale of Austintown for 7 years of loving care given to Vergil during her illness. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to the Alzheimers Association in Vergils name.
