Verna Belle Bancroft died Sunday, December 1, after an extended illness. She was born December 16, 1940 to Leonard Jones and Vada (Stigall) Jones in Mineral Ridge, Ohio.
Following graduation from Mineral Ridge High School, Verna married her high school sweetheart, Kenneth W. Bancroft, in 1958. Together they traveled the country and overseas during Kenneth’s 20-year military service. They returned to the local area in 1978, establishing residence in Austintown, Ohio. Verna enjoyed shopping, music and homemaking. She loved travelling, having lived in Spain and spending vacations in Hawaii with her husband. She was a gifted seamstress and singer.
She was preceded in death by her parents and five siblings, Edna, Edward, Betty, Marilyn and Maudie Jean.
She is survived by her husband of 65 years, her son, Kenneth (Susan) and daughter, Kelly (Steve) and Peanut, her beloved schnauzer.
There are no calling hours. A private service was held at Kerr Cemetery.
