Vivian Harmon

Springfield, IL - Vivian I. Harmon, 96 of Springfield, passed away at 12:03 pm on Tuesday, December 5, 2017 at Memorial Medical Center. Vivian was born November 12, 1921 in Pioneer Ohio, the daughter of the Reverend Albert J. and Louella Repp Oyer. She married Keith Harmon in East Liverpool Ohio on June 20, 1942. Vivian graduated from High School in Greenville South Carolina. She received a certificate in Child Evangelism from Toccoa Falls College in Toccoa Georgia and attended Geneva College in Beaver Falls Pennsylvania. She traveled with the Oyer Evangelistic Party for three years where she sang with the Ladies Trio. Vivian lived most of her life in Boardman Ohio. She had moved to Springfield Illinois in the past two- years to be close to family. She was a member of the Covenant Nazarene Church for 45 years, where she had served in numerous capacities including; on its Church Board, Sunday School Board, Daycare Board, NWMS Treasurer, Vacation Bible School Teacher, Kindergarten Supervisor, Choir Member and Member of their Ladies Trio for 27 years. Serving the Lord and loving her family was her greatest joy. She was preceded in death by her parents Albert J and Louella Repp Oyer, husband Wilfred Keith Harmon - whom she was married to for almost 60 years, one brother Emerson Oyer and one sister Phyllis Oyer Nelson. She leaves four sons: Terrence K. (Patti) Harmon, Boardman Ohio, Thomas N. (Maude) Harmon of Phoenix Arizona, Timothy (Rebecca) Harmon, Riverton, Illinois and Todd Harmon of Columbus Ohio. She leaves nine grandchildren: Traci (Dr. John) Mehalik, Dr. Daniel Harmon, Andrew Harmon, Nathan (Roz) Harmon, Maria Harmon, Kristin (William) Szala, Scott Harmon, Kelly McLane (Dan) Grim, and Jason McLane. Vivian also leaves 11 great grandchildren. She will be missed by her family and many friends. Calling hours will be Friday at Lane Family Funeral Home, Anstrom Chapel, 8387 Tod Ave., Boardman from 12 p.m. - 1 p.m. followed by a remembrance ceremony at 1:00 pm.
