WARREN- Wade L. Brainard, age 91, formerly of Cortland, entered into eternal peace on Friday, February 22, 2019. He was born in Gustavus, Ohio on October 20, 1927 to the late Leo and Olive Brainard. Wade was proud to have served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. Following his honorable discharge he pursued a lifelong career in the construction field. Wade worked for numerous contractors in the housing and construction arena, ending his career as superintendent for Natale and Overly Construction in 1992. He enjoyed Bowling into his eighties, gardening, attending auctions, horse racing and most importantly his tractors. Wade was active in the Cortland Lions Club and a 50 year member of the Cortland United Methodist Church. Loving memories will be cherished by his daughters Cheryl (Dave) Troutman, Valerie (Denny) Brown, and Darlene (John) Sacco. Wade is survived by his ten grandchildren Nate (Kate) Brainard, Zach (Emily) Brainard, Mark (Mary Jessica) Beard, Joe Beard, Chad (Chrissy) Brown, Seth (Brooke) Brown, Brandon Bergin, Brenna (Scott) Johnson, Kirsten Bergin and Karissa Wooten. He leaves seven great grandchildren. Wade is also survived by his wife of 36 years, Helen Louise Brainard. Wade was preceded in death by his son W. Lynn Brainard, his parents and his six brothers and three sisters. Friends may call 10-12PM, Tuesday, February 26th at the Lane Funeral Home, Shafer-Winans Chapel, 164 N. High St. in Cortland, where the funeral services will begin at Noon with Pastor David Vensel officiant. Interment in Gustavus Cemetery.
