Walter P. Rager

Funeral services will be held at 4 PM Sunday at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for Walter P. Rager, 62, of Austintown who passed away early Wednesday morning, September 26, at Hospice House. Walter, also known as Butch, was born October 12, 1955 in Youngstown, the son of the late James Rager and Velma (Claycomb) Cole. He was a graduate of Austintown Fitch High School class of 1974 and was a veteran serving in the US Airforce. Butch was a boiler operator / stationary engineer with Ohio Edison and Youngstown Thermal. He was a member of the VFW, and his hobbies included working on cars and collecting interesting things. Walter leaves two sons, Aaron (Kristen) Rager and Ryan (Jennifer) Rager both of Austintown, two grandchildren, Daphne and Oliver, and two sisters, Sharon (Tony) Willmitch of Austintown, and Kelli (David) Choate of Cleveland, a half-brother Danny Rager, and a step-brother Albert Rager. Butch was preceded in death by his father and mother, as well as his step-father Wilbur Cole and a half-sister, Christell Rager. Friends may call Sunday September 30, from 1 to 4 PM at the Lane Funeral Home Austintown Chapel where services will be held at 4 PM.
