Walter W. Kurtz

Walter W. Kurtz Jr., 77, of Cortland, OH passed away Tuesday morning, Feb. 23, 2010 at his home after a short illness. Born Dec. 14, 1932, he was the son of the late Walter W. and Wilma (Hartman) Kurtz Sr. of Lamartine, PA. Walter came to Warren, OH after his service in the Army during the Korean War. He worked at Copperweld Steel for a short time where he was introduced to the love of his life Mary. He went on to work at Packard Electric where he retired in 1988 after 30 years with the company. Walter has also helped out at St. Paul Lutheran Church where he and his wife are members. Hunting, reading, and vacationing are some of the many thing he enjoyed doing. He will be remembered for his sweet spirit and generosity. Memories of him will be held dearly by his wife of 53 and a half years, Mary (Jurasin) Kurtz, whom he married May 10, 1956, his daughter Janet Ritter and her husband Dominick of Marengo, OH, a son William R. Kurtz and his wife Lisa of Niles, OH. His three grandsons, two granddaughters, great granddaughter, and three step grandchildren will also miss their "Pop". He also leaves behind three sisters, Lorraine Kurtz of Emlenton, PA, Bonnie Hetzler and her husband Robert, and Nancy Lewis and her husband Paul, a sister-in-law, Dorothy Stefan, three nieces and two nephews of Knox, PA., and one niece and three nephews of Warren, OH. Calling hours will be Thursday evening from 6 until 8PM at the Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel and Friday for one hour prior to the funeral service. The Rev. John Zimmann will conduct a funeral service on Friday, Feb. 26, 2010 at 12PM the funeral home. Entombment will take place at the Meadowbrook Memorial Park where full military honors will be observed.
