A celebration of the life of Wanda J. Burns will be held at 5 PM Monday, December 10, 2018, at Cimeneros in downtown Niles. Wanda passed away Wednesday, December 5th, peacefully in her home surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with cancer at the age of 62. She was born August 27, 1956 in Warren, the daughter of Harold and Nina (Thornsberry) Burns and was a lifelong area resident. Wanda was an RN / Legal Nurse Consultant, employed by Attorney Martin F. White. She was an avid football fan and devoted to any sport her family was involved in. Wanda was the light of her familys lives, and the children always brought a smile to her face. Her love, generosity, and passion for life will continue to live through her loved ones. Wanda leaves one son David L. Shaffer Jr. of Mineral Ridge, one granddaughter, Zoey Shaffer, one brother David (Pam) Burns Niles, one sister, Karen Koncsol of Niles as well as two nephews Kevin Koncsol and Michael (Leeann) Burns, and numerous friends. Wanda was preceded in death by her parents. Friends and family may gather at Cimeneros at 5 PM on Monday, December 10, 2018 to celebrate Wandas life. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the "Wanda Burns Memorial Fund" and will be used to support local student athletes, in care of Lane Funeral Home, Mineral Ridge Chapel.
