Wanda Nadine (Arneal) Armstrong, 99, passed away May 13, 2019 at Humility House in Austintown, Ohio. Wanda, the daughter of Albert H. and Gertie (Acton) Arneal, was born August 15, 1919 on a farm outside Colby, Kansas. During her youth she lived in several states, including Kansas, Missouri, and Colorado. She joined the U. S. Coast Guard during WWII. While stationed in San Francisco she met fellow U. S. Coast Guard cook Richard L. Armstrong. They were married on October 1, 1945 and moved to Ohio following their respective discharges. Lordstown, Ohio became their home for over 50 years. Richard passed away on November 15, 2003. Wanda was a member of the Ohltown United Methodist Church where she enjoyed quilting. Wanda is survived by her daughter, Leatrice A. Armstrong of Santa Fe, NM and her son, Jesse A. (Christine) Armstrong of Baltimore, MD and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by all her brothers and sisters: Ross, Nellie (Glenn) Haulk, Mabel (William) Pedrick, Ivan (Jean), Ethel (John) Hensley, and Ferne (Earl) Collins. A memorial service will be held at Ohltown United Methodist Church, 2001 Ohltown Rd., Mineral Ridge, Ohio 44440 on Thursday, August 15, 2019 at 11:00 am. Calling Hours will begin at 10:00 am.
