Warren C. Wortman, Jr., age 71 of Warren, died Saturday evening, December 8, 2018, at St. Joseph Warren Hospital. He was born October 6, 1947 in Warren, the son of the late Warren Carlton and Lorraine Perry Wortman Sr. Warren was raised in Cortland by his grandparents, Joseph and Alice Wortman and attended Lakeview schools. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1966 and served two tours in Vietnam as a Navy SeaBee, serving 3 1/2 years until his discharge in 1969. He worked for 30 years as an electrician at Republic-LTV-Warren Consolidated Steel, retiring in 2000 and serving as a union representative with the USWA. Warren was a 10 year volunteer firefighter and EMT with the Southington Fire Department. He was a life member and past commander of VFW Post 1090 in Warren, life member of the DAV in Warren and a member of the NAUS Club. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lois J. Yoder Wortman., whom he married July 18, 1967; one daughter, Marlene J. (Tim) Weston of Edgewater, Maryland; one son, Warren K. (Jessica) Wortman of Canon City, Colo.; a niece and several nephews and two granddogs. One granddog, Yager, whom he dearly loved, has passed away. The funeral service will be held at noon Thursday, December 13, 2018 at Lane Family Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel in Cortland, where the family will receive friends from 10:30 a.m. until the noon service time. Pastor Tom Badanjek will officiate. Burial will be at Hillside Cemetery in Bazetta, where military honors will be accorded. Memorial contributions may be made to the VFW Post 1090 Ladies' Auxiliary Relief Fund, 611 High St. NE, Warren,OH 44483.
