Wilfred O. Fisher, age 87, of Bazetta Twp., died Thursday, October 19, 2006, at 6:00 AM, at St. Elizabeth Medical Center in Youngstown, Ohio. He was born on February 21, 1919 in Woodsfield, Ohio, the son of the late Jacob Fisher and the late May Clark Fisher. Mr. Fisher was a veteran of the United States Army, having served his country during WWII. He entered into active service on April 21, 1943 and was honorably discharged on January 5, 1946. Wilfred had worked at Packard Electric as a painter for 33 years, retiring in 1986. He enjoyed playing the guitar and watching the Ohio State football games. Wilfred may best be remembered as a lifelong New York Yankeeys fan who enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Mr. Fisher was preceded in death on August 30, 2002 by his wife, Hilda V. (Groves) Fisher whom he married on April 4, 1943. He is survived by two daughters, Karen (Roger) Truran of Miamisburg, Ohio, and Marilyn Britton of Cortland. One son, Kevin (Cindi) Fisher of Twinsburg, Ohio, six grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Mr. Fisher was preceded in death by nine brothers and one sister. Arrangements are being handled by Shafer-Winans Funeral Chapel in Cortland, where the family will receive friends from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM Sunday, October 22, 2006. Funeral service will be at Shafer-Winans Funeral Chapel at 11:00 AM Monday, October 23, 2006. Interment will be at Hillside Cemetery in Cortland, Ohio.
