William O. Durig of Vienna, OH, died at 10:55 pm Monday at his residence. He was 76. Mr. Durig was born in Vienna, OH on April 28, 1928, a son of Joseph Henry and Frances Rebecca Reinehart Durig. He was a 1946 graduate of Vienna High School where he was president of his class 3 out of the 4 years. In 1988 Mr. Durig retired from IBEW (International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers) Local Union #712 with over 50 years of employment. His memberships included The Vienna Athletics Club, The Young Married’s Club, One of the original Volunteer Fireman in Vienna, served on the Vienna United Methodist Church Board, Softball at the AFL - CIO, He served on many boards and as an officer in many other organizations. Mr. Durig showed great leadership skills through out his life. Bill loved many activities such as hunting and fishing. He would spend time with friends and family at Hayes Hunting Camp in Pennsylvania. Beyond his personal and community oriented activities, what he cherished most of all was spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren. Survivors include: His wife, Gladys A. Quimby Durig, whom he married Aug. 27, 1949. and have been happily married for over 55 years; 2 sons, William O. Jr. and his wife Karla Durig of Vienna, OH and Robert D. and his wife Lori Durig, of Vienna; 2 daughters, Rebecca A. and her husband Lee Seiple, Cortland, OH, and Mary Ellen and her husband John Sliwinski Jr. of Niles, OH; 3 sisters, Mary H. McConnell, Hubbard, OH, Eleanor Scott, Largo, FL, and Clara Gerker, Atlanta, GA.; 8 grandchildren, Scott and Leigh Ann Seiple, Jonathan and Jared Sliwinski, Joshua and Lucas Durig, Stephanie and Marcus Durig. He was preceded in death by: His parents; Funeral Services will be held at the Madasz Funeral Chapel, Brookfield, at 11 am on Friday with Rev. Joel Dickson, Pastor of the Fowler Community Church. Calling hours will be on Thursday from 4 to 7 pm at the funeral home. Burial will be in Vienna Twp. Cemetery. Memorial Contributions may be made to the Trumbull Memorial Hospice, Fowler Community Church, or the Vienna Volunteer Fire Dept.
