William C Nelson

William C. "Bill" Nelson, age 80, of Champion Township, died Saturday morning, May 9, 2009, at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 7, 1929 in Stafford, Kansas the son of the late Floyd Nelson and the late Mary (Sanders) Campbell. Bill was raised in Howland Township and was a 1946 graduate of Howland High School. He served in the U.S. Marine Corps at the end of World War II, from 1946-48. He worked at Ohio Bell Telephone Company for over 25 years, retiring in 1976. Bill was of the Lutheran faith. He enjoyed collecting sports cards and was an avid fisherman. He is survived by his wife, Helen M. Tuori Nelson, whom he married May 14, 1950; three children, William (Ildiko) Nelson of Budapest, Hungary; Pamela (Ernie) Gerbetz of Howland and Carolle (Bruce) Bauer of Cincinnati; four grandchildren, Daniel, Kara, Destiny and Sterling and one brother, Dean Nelson of Austintown. Bill was preceded in death by one sister, Norma Voorhees. Arrangements are being handled by Roberts-Clark Funeral Chapel in Warren, where a private memorial service will be held. According to Bill's wishes, cremation has taken place. Memorial contributions may be made to Celtic Hospice, 3530 Belmont Avenue, Youngstown, OH 44515.
