MECCA TOWNSHIP- William E. Bebech, age 79, passed away Sunday, January 6, 2019 at Trumbull Regional Medical Center. Bill was born on December 4, 1939 in Sharon, Pennsylvania, a son of the late William and Anna (Listopad) Bebech. He graduated from Brookfield High School in 1957. Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force where he was a military Police Officer. While he was stationed in Wiesbaden, Germany he was a scout leader for the Transatlantic Council- Order of the Arrow Troop 107. When Bill left the Air Force and came home, he worked at Brookfield Police Department as a Police Officer, before being hired at the Trumbull County Sheriffs Department where he worked for 36 years before retiring in 2000 with the rank of Captain. While at the Sheriffs department he ran several training schools for area law enforcement officers as well as being in charge of gun qualification courses. Bill was a member of Wildare United Methodist Church; he was also a member of the American Legion, NRA, FOP, Judicial Watch, and the Buckeye State Sheriffs Association. He supported many worth causes for Veterans. In Bills earlier years, he liked to travel, bowl, visit amusement parks, read, and visit casinos. In recent years he enjoyed reading, working on puzzles, playing games on his tablet, and visiting with friends. Bill is survived by his wife of 42 years, Leslie and his son Alan both of Mecca, a brother Tim (Mary) Bebech of Girard, five nieces and a nephew. Besides his parents, Bill is preceded in death by a brother John of South Carolina, and a sister Cheryl of Masury. Friends may call 3-5PM, Thursday January 10, 2019 at the Lane Funeral Homes, Shafer-Winans Chapel, 164 N. High St. in Cortland. Where the funeral service will begin at 5PM with Pastors Ron McIlvaine and Jody Baker officiants. In lieu of flowers, monetary donations can be made to the Mecca Twp. Fire Department, 6333 St. Rt. 46, Cortland Ohio, 44410 or to the Cortland Fire Department, 194 Lattin St., Cortland, Ohio 44410 Bills family wishes to thank both fire departments for the kind and compassionate care they gave Bill, thanks also to Harbor Light Hospice Care.
