Funeral services will be held 1 PM Friday at the Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel for William E. Sopp of 164 S. Inglewood who passed away Tuesday morning at his residence. Mr. Sopp was born July 26, 1927 in Urichsville, Ohio a son of Charles and Charlotte (Beatty) Sopp. Mr. Sopp was an engineer for the Youngstown and Northern Railroad retiring in 1980. He was a former deacon and current member at Wickliffe Christian Church, member of Argus Lodge 545 Scottish Rite, an Austintown Little League Manager for 14 years, and a school bus driver for Austintown Schools retiring in 1987. Mr. Sopp also served in World War II in the United States Navy. He is survived by his second wife Linda L. Clay Sopp whom he married March 25, 1994; children: Judy Ann Nori of Niles, Ohio, Terry (Gina) Sopp of Columbus, Ohio, and Betsy (Mark) Cercone of Austintown; Step children Jay (Christine) Clay of Austintown, and Robin (Ronald) Brooks of Sturthers; 6 grandchildren: Kerri, Tim, Rachelle Sopp, & Heidi Naegelin all of Columbus, Joe, Matt, Andy Cercone all of Austintown; 6 step grandchildren; Nicole and Joshua Brooks of Struthers, Justin, Jason, Megan, and Kyle Clay of Austintown and 3 great grandchildren: Jon, Katelyn, Nathan Sopp of Columbus. He is preceded in death by his parents and first wife Dorothy Skipp who passed away in 1984 and a step grandson Mathew Clay.
