William R. Lanterman,Sr

William R. Lanterman, Sr., age 81, of Diamond, passed away on Monday afternoon, January 20, 2025, at his residence. He was born on February 23, 1943, in Canfield, Ohio, the son of the late Frank J. and Laura (Cochel) Lanterman. A lifelong resident of the area, William graduated from Canfield High School and proudly served in the United States Army Reserves.

William spent 30 years working on the assembly line at General Motors, Lordstown Plant, retiring in 1995. He had a wide range of interests, including bowling, golfing, hunting, and playing darts. One of his favorite pastimes was playing a good game of pinnacle with his family. William also enjoyed gardening, growing small pumpkins for his grandchildren and many award-winning giant pumpkins, which he displayed at Parks Garden Center and the Canfield Fair. Most importantly, he loved spending time with his grandchildren, giving them tractor rides. He was their biggest fan , always attending their sporting events to cheer them on.

William leaves behind his beloved wife, Katherine DeBolt, whom he married on December 15, 1973; his children, William R. (Cheryl) Lanterman, Jr. of Warren, Edward A. Lanterman of Diamond, and Malissa (Jess) Stewart of North Jackson; his three grandchildren, William R. Lanterman, III, Ian P. Stewart, and Olivia R. Stewart; and two great-grandchildren, AbiGayle Lanterman and Autumn Lanterman. He is also survived by his siblings, Jack Lanterman of Salem, Evelyn Prozy of Lake Milton, Phyllis Harmon of Berlin Center, James Lanterman of Canfield, and Dale Lanterman of Canfield.

In addition to his parents, William was preceded in death by his siblings, Dolores Yeager, Bernice Pike, George Lanterman, Charles Lanterman and Frank Lanterman.

Friends may call on Monday, January 27th, from 11:00 AM until 12:45 PM at Lane Funeral Home, Austintown Chapel, followed by the funeral service at 1:00 PM.
