William Patrick Fergus, age 83, of Lake Milton, passed away on Tuesday, October 2, 2018. Born September 8, 1935 in Youngstown; he was the son of Paul A. and Mary Ellen (Monahan) Forgacs. William was an active member of the former St. Nicholas Parish. He was the first appointed executive director of Eastgate Development and Transportation Agency in Youngstown; he also was elected to serve two terms as the Mahoning County Engineer. Bill's engineering skills were often put to use outside of the workplace through large and small home improvement projects for and with his adult children. He was a generous man whose enthusiastic motto for life was, "Every day is Christmas!" His many nieces and nephews called him 'the funny uncle' and his silly sense of humor compelled him to end most conversations with "a zinger". He was a beloved grandfather, known as "Pucka" by his grandkids and even family friends. His dedication included a year of teaching math to two of his home-schooled grandchildren. He was a youthful spirit, a lover of dogs and had a passion for skiing, the Minnesota Vikings, and The Ohio State Buckeyes football team. Survivors include his four children: William P. Fergus, Jr. of Youngstown, Patricia Little of Denver, CO., Matthew (Mary) Fergus of Painesville, OH., and Paula (Anthony) Farraj of Chicago, IL.; three grandchildren: Kate Monahan Fergus, Jordan Farraj, and Christian Farraj. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his two brothers, Paul and Lawrence Fergus, and his three sisters: Catherine McHugh, Mary Gucwa, and Elizabeth Fergus. The family will celebrate his life privately. In lieu of flowers, donations to ASPCA.org are greatly appreciated.
